Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things
Hi everybody,
It’s been a full on month with moving house and all but I’m glad to say that everything is returning back to some sort of normality (whatever that is).
The house looks great, feels very comfortable and the space… Well, let’s just say that I’m feeling very content at the moment. I even picked up the guitar and started writing something for the first time in a long while.
Living in a nice space certainly increases your ability to be inspired.
Now with the move complete I’m now ready to get back into songwriting, blogging and just getting on with what life deals for me. Expect more posts from now on.
Until next time, keep on writing,
Corey Stewart

Welcome To Songwritingzen.Com
Today is the first official day of this new songwriting website called Songwriting Zen.
In it you’ll find songwriting tips, songwriting help and songwriting ideas all in one comprehensive songwriting resource.
In addition to that, this blog is also the official home of Corey Stewart (that’s me). I’m a singer/songwriter from Australia and for over twenty years I’ve been writing lots of songs, playing lots of gigs and having a great time along the way.
Through this blog I want to post my music, let you know about my gigs and keep you generally informed about all things Corey.
Even though Songwriting Zen is a songwriting resource and my online home, it’s also about you and your songwriting.
I realized early on in my career that I had a passion for helping other songwriters and musicians be the best that they can be.
Songwriting is a craft and the Music Business runs on networking. It’s my sincere hope that this site helps you in both of these important areas:
Perfecting your songwriting craft
Expanding your musical network
In my hometown of Adelaide, South Australia I run an online music marketing business called Orangutang Music. I also mentor up and coming songwriters. I want to use Songwriting Zen to expand these services to the world.
On the products front I’m planning three major projects.
1. Pre-production of my first CD.
2. The first draft of a Songwriting Zen book
3. Building a songwriting/podcasting studio
I want to use Songwrititng Zen to document the progress of these projects and to offer the fruits of my labour to you when completed.
The thing that I’m the most excited about is the Songwriting Zen Forum. It’s still in it’s early stages (and I’m also getting used to the phpBB software used in running it) but this forum gives everyone the opportunity to communicate directly with me and with each other.
As you’re well aware, I’m right into networking and fostering a sense community. I want the Songwriting Zen Forum to be the hub of a vibrant and creative community of songwriters, musicians and all creative types in between.
I know this site is called Songwriting Zen but the information contained in this site is of benefit to all. It’s my belief that writers and creative people of all genres and disciplines can all learn from each other.
To make communication and networking even easier there’s a links directory with lots of different sites to visit. I hope you find the songwriting, writing, creativity and music business resources as useful and inspiring as I do.
I will endeavour to add more links every week so come back often.
Songwriting Zen is a new website so there are going to be bugs and other things that don’t work. If you come across any other these things let me know
If you have any questions, enquiries, comments, feedback, thoughts, feelings, complaints or words of encouragement you can contact me here.
If you want to subscribe to my emailing list so you can be the first to know any important Songwriting Zen or Corey Stewart news you can do that here.
Lao Tzu once said that “a good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving”. I hope that you choose to walk with me along the path to wherever it is I’m heading. He also said that “the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”.
Well, I take my first step… NOW!
Until next time, happy writing,

The First Post (Or How To Unscramble An Egg)
My name is Corey Stewart and I am a songwriter from Australia.
This blog “Songwriting Zen” is my way of spreading information (either from my own experiences or from what comes my way) about songwriting and the creative process.
I am currently in the process of moving my songwriting blog “Corey Stewart Songwriting Tips” to WordPress. The “unscramble an egg” part of the title indicates the state of my general affairs online.
I am making a huge effort to streamline my online presence. It’s very easy to put a link here, upload some music there and before you know it you don’t know where anything is.
We have all been there, haven’t we?
Songwriting Zen is the name I use to describe the way I approach the songwriting and creative processes in general. Personally I believe that writing songs is a way of coping and documenting your life.
So, with that in mind, everyone has a story to tell. There is no excuse is there?
This blog is also my shameless promotional tool for my many musical exploits. I love fans of my music as much as the next songwriter and the Internet is the most exciting thing to happen in music marketing since… forever!
Here are a couple of links for you to check out while you’re here.
