Hey Nolly! How are you mate :)

Don't worry, I certainly don't put you in that category. Having an early start the next morn is always a good excuse to leave a little earlier.

"Thou shalt not attend an open mic and leave before it’s done just because you’ve finished your crappy little poem or song you self-righteous..." - Dan Le Sac "Thou Shalt Always Kill".

Just reminded me of that lyric. Made me laugh when I heard it. Agreed- While I've occasionally left a little early after I've come along to open mics in the past, it's always been for good reason. Stick around- you might even see someone or something special. I know I have, countless times.

I also like commandment #5. I actually remember being there when someone played that EXACT setlist not too long ago, haha.

See you next time!

I know how you felt. I've been at Open Mics where that's also the case. I just think it rude to do your thing and then go afterwards.

There are times where performers at my open mic have to go after they perform (early start at work) but they at least tell me the reason. I tend to put them up the list so they can get the maximum amount of community exposure.

I wish the 10+1 commandments was just comedy but unfortunately it's truth. Every open mic I've been to has similar challenges but it's still a lot of fun.

Thank you for sharing your open mic story with me. It's nice to know that even on the other side of the world the commandments ring true.

This was comedy, Corey!

I had to crawl up off of my floor when I read, "Clap when a song is completed. At least make some acknowledgment" and "Stay for as long as you can after you’ve finished your performance."

Last month, I was at an event featuring music and comedians. I was surprised when I turned around to interact with everyone at the end of the show and realized the reason why so many of the performers sat in the back of the room - - - they had left as soon as they completed their set!

If someone is gracious enough to allow me to perform at their show, I am going to stay until the show is done. I don't understand those who leave IMMEDIATELY after their performance. Even if you feel you've had a bad night, stay and talk with others about it. Community is important; encourage one another.
