Corey Stewart – “What Have We Got To Lose?”

As promised, here is the first of two songs I showcased live to air on the SongCatcher radio program I did recently at Radio Adelaide.

The song is called “What Have We Got To Lose” and it’s all about how I was feeling when I first met my partner and the leap of faith I had to take to be with her.

I thought I would include lyrics and chords to give the full musical picture of the song.

As you can see the song follows a standard format of verse / chorus / verse / chorus / middle 8 / instrumental (chorus) / chorus.

I remember the song really flowing as I was writing it. This was mainly due to the subject matter and how I was feeling about it all at the time.

Writing this song also showed me that you can be happy and be a songwriter at the same time. This song also illustrates how I feel about love without sounding like a sugary boy band ballad.

I like the new blog too. Shifting everything over to WordPress was one of the best things I’ve ever done and the template I’m using is awesome too.

I’ve noticed that you’ve made some changes on your blog too. There must be something in the air. Change is everywhere.

I’m glad you like the song. That shows to me that I’m on the right track with my songwriting.

“Northbound in a southbound lane” I was immediately pulled in by the first line (earlier this evening a Park Ranger turned his siren on to warn me that I was in fact driving southbound in a northbound lane . . . small world). When I heard you elaborate on that line during your interview, I had to laugh!

The line that touched me the most was “when I’m with you I’m exactly where I want to be”. It’s amazing that in the interview, you shared that the bridge took a while; it’s seamless! As a listener, I dictate this is a hit! It makes me feel good!
